U&D Books (“the app”) is made by One Third Ceiling LLC (“we,” “us”), a Texas limited liability company. We built U&D Books to be private by design. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
The short version
We do not collect, see, store, sell, or share any of your personal data. U&D Books has no analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking, and no accounts or logins with us. Everything you put into the app stays on your device and in your own private Apple iCloud — we have no access to it.
What the app stores, and where
When you use U&D Books, you may create book entries that include a title, author, format, location, tags, a cover photo, and voice recordings (a spoken title and/or a read-aloud or personal message). This information is stored:
- On your device, and
- In your personal iCloud account (via Apple’s CloudKit private database), if you have iCloud enabled, so it can sync across your own devices.
This data lives in your iCloud, controlled by your Apple ID. We cannot access it. We do not operate any server that receives or stores your content.
Camera, photos, and microphone
- The camera and photo library are used only so you can add a cover image to a book. Images are stored in the app as described above.
- The microphone is used only if you choose to record a spoken title or a read-aloud/message. Recordings are stored in the app as described above and are never uploaded to us.
These permissions are requested only when you use the related feature, and the data never leaves your device or iCloud through us.
Sharing gift files and backups
If you choose to export a book entry as a .udbook gift file,
or export your whole library as a backup archive, that file is created on
your device and shared by you, using whatever method you pick (Messages,
AirDrop, email, Files, and so on). We are not involved in that transfer and
never receive a copy.
Children’s data
U&D Books is designed for families to catalogue children’s books, and entries may include recordings intended for young children. Because all content stays on your own device and in your own iCloud — and we collect nothing — we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. You control this content and can edit or delete it at any time within the app.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete any book, recording, cover, or location at any time in the app; doing so removes it from your device and your iCloud. Deleting the app removes its on-device data. Content stored in your iCloud is governed by your Apple ID and Apple’s terms.
Third parties
U&D Books uses Apple iCloud/CloudKit to store your data in your own account. Your use of iCloud is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not use any other third-party services, SDKs, analytics, or advertising networks.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and post the current version at www.onethirdceiling.com/udbooks-privacy.html.
